Linguistic Turn, Postmodernism and Special Education for Severe Disabilities
2008, 104-109
Summary: In this article the author advocates the theory that the historical development of anthropological positions in the field of special education for severe disabilities, based on phenomenology, has been strongly influenced by the linguistic turn and its resulting approaches. Furthermore the view is taken that special education for severe disabilities can be regarded as being a product of postmodernism. That implies that it would have hardly been possible to develop special education for severe disabilities before the linguistic turn in the nearby past because up to that time the human sciences put the features for being educable on a level with subjective intellectual rationality.
