Summary: In view of the EU expansion to the east of May 1st, 2004, possible changes of the system of logopedic occupational groups in Europe are discussed. For the union of European countries, the author emphasises the characteristics of a) the procedural change, b) the multitude of interests and c) the dialectics of the society besides/with a preservation of individual peculiarities. These characteristics are analysed and discussed in the framework of the questions of Logopedics and analogous to the development in time, which means in view of 1) the historical conditions for emergence and development, 2) the present situation and 3) the estimation of future developments against the background of basic decisions of values. The emphasis lays on the correlations between education/formation and self-conception in this particular professional discipline. Education and formation may be seen as the basic approach to changes. In this regard, different options are discussed, but instead of a levelling standardization, the author pleads for a measure of comparison on the basis of minimum standards, which should be certified by professional associations.
