Summary: The diversity in classrooms can have many facets. In the process of the migration movements of the past decades, we can find a growing cultural variety in many classrooms. Depending on the composition of a class, local children experience more or less contact with children of migrant families. This article tries to find answers to the question of the effects of such culturally mixed classes on the interactions and attitudes of the local pupils. The author summarizes his reflections on contact theories and gives a general idea of the analyses of an extensive research project concerning this range of themes.
