Kompetenzstufen der Lehrerkooperation: Ein empirisches Beispiel für das Latent-Growth-Curve-Modell
Competence Steps of Teacher Cooperation: An Empirical Example of the Latent Growth Curve Model
2005, 66-79
Summary: The acquisition of competencies is often described as a stepwise process. This apparently simple descriptive model has proven to be difficult to transform into a statistical model suitable for empirical testing. A model which enables the investigation of competence steps based on a continuous latent dimension is described. This model which is derived from the latentgrowth- curve model assumes that competence steps are sections of a continuous curve. First-order latent variables represent the steps as the constant and linear components of the curve function. The competence-steps model is applied to data of competence steps in teacher cooperation defined by the steps of segregation, coordination, interaction and integration. The result confirms the hypothesized sequence of competence steps whereas all the other possible combinations of steps were rejected. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that the increase from step to step is linear.
