Summary: Summary: Problems of self-regulation were assessed in 19 boys with fragile-x-syndrome (3-6 years old). Social withdrawn, hypersensitive and hyperactive behaviors as well as problems falling asleep seem to be characteristic for the behavioral phenotype even in this young age group. These problems contribute to a very high level of maternal stress. Family- and relationship-oriented approaches are strongly recommended in early intervention services for young children with fragile X.
