Summary: Green Chimneys is a School and Residential Treatment Facility for Students with socio-emotional disorder, located on the North-East Coast of the United States. Within the past 60 years it has earned an international reputation for its innovative interventions. Animal assisted activities and therapy are fundamental core concepts of treatment and interdisciplinary cooperation is a successful key component. Co-treatment has been especially successful within the hippotherapy treatment. Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists work hand in hand, using the multi-sensory qualities of the horse and its unique movement pattern to achieve the students goals in the natural context of the horse barn.
