Reittherapie für Flüchtlingskinder
Therapeutic Riding for Child Refugees
2010, 52-62
Summary: The article is dedicated to all child refugees, asylum seekers and helpers who were involved in the project "therapeutic riding with child refugees" and made it possible. The project was developed and put into practice by the Centre for Intercultural Psychotherapy Ankyra of the “Diakonie Flüchtlingsdienst” in Innsbruck, Austria, which has been involved in the psychotherapeutic and medico-psychiatric care of refugees and asylum seekers in Tyrol since 2004. The article is about project’s concept which is based on the principles of Integrative Therapy. The experiences made by the centre’s staff members over the years of their work with refugees and asylum seekers were the centre of the equine-facilitated therapy. The transfer of these experiences into the development of the project constitutes another part of this paper.
